Pedreguer is a municipality in the Valencian Community, Spain, located in the northeast of the province of Alicante, near the Mediterranean coast.
Municipality included in the Marina Alta region, in the buttresses of the Valencian external prebético system; the term opens to the valley of the river Girona and appears uneven in its southern half by jagged promontories such as the Hoyas hill, the Montaña Grande, the Peña del Perro Flaco, the Solana Castle or Aixa Castle. The history of inhabitants in the term of Pedreguer goes back at least to the Neolithic period 5000 years ago, thanks to the remains found in the Randero cave. The very name of this cave has etymology in the word of Celtic origin Rand which means limit/margin/border whose meaning could derive in heap of stones. That links with the name of the town Pedreguer/Pedregal.

This cave was later an important area for the Iberian people of the Contestanos due to its demography and sacred character, where a large number of funerary remains from this time have been found.
